Louise Begaye Update

February 19, 2003

  Greetings Members & Friends!

Update on Louise Whitewater Begaye's Health

As you know from our previous update, Louise Whitewater Begaye had been hospitalized in Chinle with pneumonia. She suffered respiratory arrest last Friday which caused her oxygen levels to drop really low. She has since been stabilized and flown to the hospital in Tuscon where there is a lung specialist attending to her. She is still not yet "out of the woods".

The family has expressed overwhelming gratitude for all the e-mails and calls full of messages of prayers and good thoughts. It is a tremendous comfort to the family to know people all over the world are holding positive thoughts for their mother and keeping her in their prayers. It is also a source of strength for Louise, who as you can imagine is in pain. For someone who has never flown and has had so little exposure to technology this is daunting. When she is told of all the people who are praying for her, she is so deeply moved and it gives her strength of heart. So a big heart felt thank-you to all.

How you can help the family

The family does not have the funds for the costs of travelling and staying in Tuscon, so if you would like to make a monetary donation to the family to help cover costs send a check or money order to made out to Amos Begaye:
Amos Begaye, PO box 1650, Chinle, AZ 86503

For those of you who tried to use the Sundance phone number in the last email, that number was incorrect. The correct number is: 928-725-3537, which is Amos's home number.

Once again the Begaye family thanks you for your continued support and prayers!

Sincerely,

Marie Tefts
